Today, May 12, 2014 marks the first official Monday of my website. I have been working on it for sometime now but I'm finally getting to a point where I can begin posting on a regular basis and not worry so much about the nuts-and-bolts of it all.
Last week was a week off because I had gone to the gym for a solid 3 months without a legitimate break. Thankfully the break is over and I literally cannot wait until 5 o'clock so I can get out of here, eats some dinner and head to the gym. My buddy just got back from out of town and needs a day to get reorganized so I'll be flying solo today. No worries though, it will give me a good day to test out the new workout we are starting this week. Tomorrow I'll be able to tell him how painful it is...
The new Workout
I dislike running for cardio very much so in order to get my heart rate up, most of my lifting routines revolve around a quicker pace. Short or no breaks between sets is a total body workout and even if you're lifting light weights, by the end it feels like you've done a lot. For a new workout, I like to search the world wide web for ideas. I don't have to invent the wheel. Most of the exercises possible have already been discovered. It's all about the different combinations and searching for ideas helps open my mind to some exercises that I don't normally think about. After I find something I like, I usually try it once and then adapt it to myself by either switching out certain lifts or the amount of reps.
Every other day is core day for me so I start off those days with 15 or 20 minutes of fast paced core exercises. There are 5 different muscles that make up your core so I pick 1 ab exercise for each and do a 5 exercise circuit 3-5 times through.
1. Leg Raises on Dip/Leg Raise Machine - 15x
2. Cable Machine Trunk Twist - 10x each side
3. 60 second plank
4. Stability Ball Crunch - 15x
5. Stability Ball Back Extensions - 15x
I went through a total of 3 times today in about 10 minutes.
Today's workout came from Muscle&Strength. The specific workout out is called Your Complete Body Blueprint by Brad Borland. Sounds like a good one to me, right? Today I did workout A from Body Blueprint. Here is exactly how my routine went.
Stay tuned for workout B tomorrow...Leg Day!!!
Talk to you then!
