If you haven't heard that...well now you have. Your body is made in the kitchen. You can work out all you want. You'll probably get a little stronger. You'll probably be able to run a little farther without getting so winded. There are certainly many reasons to work out and the two I just stated are a couple. But, if you aren't eating the right things, in the long run you're doing your body and your future a disservice.
If you want to lose weight, if you want your body to look like you work out, if you want to be truly healthy, you need to eat that way. Unless you're one of the lucky people who genetically have the metabolism of a hyper 8 year old and you can put anything into your body without consequence...do your thing I guess. To be fit, to make people notice how fit you are, to feel as good as you can, you must not only exercise but you have to eat right.
My New Years resolution for 2013 was to get a 6-pack. Not a 6-pack of beer. I had no problem getting that. I wanted a six pack of abs. I did nothing about it though. I just wanted it. The year ended and I looked no different. I made the same resolution for 2014 and this time I'm doing something about it. I did some research and like a lot of my health research, I ended up at MensHealth. I came across the a tab to The New Abs Diet and at first it looked like the typical advertisement for some gimmicky fitness product. I read every word on that page and thought that if I wanted abs, I had to start somewhere and why not take advice from someone that MensHealth was promoting.
So I ordered The New Abs Diet Book without hesitation. I read it cover to cover and it has basically become my fitness bible. You can even try it for 21 days and return it if you'd like but I promise you'll have no reason to.(FYI: I have no affiliate connection to MensHealth or this book. I just think it's an amazing resource and it's changed the way I eat and workout on a daily basis.) The author is David Zinczenko and he does a marvelous job of explaining to you in a very simple manner how you can become fit and stay fit for as long as you want.
The primary message I took from the book and one that I think is very important to convey to you is that this IS NOT a diet book. Yes the word diet is in the title but you will not be on a diet if you follow this book. Diets do not work. Sure you may lose a few pounds but it will come back. "Going on a diet" is temporary. That's because you'll eventually get sick of counting every calorie you eat so you'll just stop. Or you'll get tired of eliminating carbs. Do you really want to go the rest of your life never eating pizza, bread, pasta, chips, potatoes, etc...? No. It's just not going to happen. Mr. Zinczenko will explain to you how you can keep eating the things you like and become fit and healthy.
It's not a joke. It's not a diet. It's a lifestyle and it's one that I have jumped into with both feet and I'm never coming out of...because I don't want to. I eat good food all day every day. I haven't counted a calorie or carb one time. I know what to eat and when to eat it. I'm rarely hungry and once a week I eat absolutely anything I want.
I started this new lifestyle in February and I've made great progress. I still eat slightly more than I should per meal because in all honesty I'm eating the food I love to eat. My goal was to have a six pack by summer and I would say I'll be there with continued work and serious focus in the gym.
It feels amazing to feel healthy and strong. I love going grocery shopping now with my fiance because I know all the things I'm spending my money on are contributing to me being healthy and fit. Once I hit the goals I want to hit I'll post some pictures of myself and the progress I made to show you the results. Of course I don't want to call them results really. Results are what you get when you're done with something and I don't plan on being done anytime soon. I'm not looking to look like a body builder but simply a model of fitness. I'm well on my way and hopefully I can motivate you to get up and work your way toward the same thing!!!
Talk to you later!
